One day it came to mind that a running group would be a good way to help me stay motivated to run more regularly. In my search I decided on USA Fit Bay Area.  At the time I had no idea what a colossally grand decision this would be! Any great organization IS that way due to leadership. As the leader(s) go, so goes the group. BAF has inspirational, committed, knowledgeable, talented, caring leadership and the organization is thriving as a result.  Another special quality about BAF is that of acceptance. As a new member, I was not only welcomed but valued and made to feel instantly part of the group. It became a supportive 'running' family. When I registered for BAF I was not necessarily aspiring to run a marathon but that quickly changed. Thanks to the leadership, coaching, training and support of BAF, I completed my first marathon at the age of 53 and darn near qualified for Boston. (those pesky 3 minutes) I can't thank you enough for all you have done for me and I look forward to the next Bay Area Fit running season as a fitter 'Fitter.'

With kind regards and much thanks,

Sandy McKinney

I have been a member of USA Fit Temecula for two years. I came to be a member when it was becoming more and more clear to me that my husband really wasn't the best coach for me, and truly we both needed to find running buddies that were at our running ability. An event at our local running store one summer proved to be the solution, when I met the coaches for USA Fit. I turned to my husband and said THIS is exactly what we need. We signed up that day. Joining USA Fit changed me not only as a runner but truly physically and mentally. Having the accountability of being with our group for our weekly runs has forced me to get out of bed no matter how long the miles might be or what the weather might be. I have grown stronger and more confident and have since branched out to join other runners, which before I would not have had the courage or confidence to do. Since joining this group I have run two full Marathons and can't remember how many Half Marathons. I love being a part of this group, and knowing at races there are friends out there running the same course and that we will all see each other at the end keeps me going when the going gets tough. I have been encouraged by the coaches, and learned so much from their experience. I am always so grateful for that day I happened upon this group.. and speaking for my husband as well, USA FIT has truly transformed us...

I have been a member of the USA Fit Austin walking group for the last ten years, and it has been a time of great satisfaction! I get to do what I like most, which is to explore the beautiful city of Austin on foot, and in the company of like-minded walkers of all ages and interests! I have never thought of myself as a hardcore athlete, but I must confess that the number of medals and plaques I’ve earned through the years represents a sense of achievement that makes me proud and grateful for Austin Fit, for our Head coach Elayne Barber, and the group of assistant coaches and walkers who like what we do, and to do it together.
